You’re a Filmmaker, You’re an Artist is a zine published by Moonplay Cinema that intersects collective chronicles, struggles, and triumphs of artists working in today’s independent filmmaking scene. Each contributing voice is a window into sustaining a creative life and increasing visibility and space for gender diversity in filmmaking. “When I first began identifying as an artist, I felt freer as a filmmaker. This is why I organized the publication of this zine,” said Jes Reyes, director of Moonplay Cinema and lead editor. “I am just one voice of many contributing to this zine. We want others, too, to see themselves as film directors who can make films, no matter what, no matter if they are underrepresented within the community and industry. This collection of articles is for them.”
