Project Coordinator - Moonplay Cinema
START: November 2023 - April 2024
PAY: $20 per hour / 60-75 hours

Moonplay Cinema seeks a Project Coordinator to support upcoming events and programs through administration, artist coordination, and marketing. This is a part-time, contract-based, grant-funded position, and reports to the Director.
Our ideal Coordinator is a person that is passionate about the moving image and wants to see more diversity in the film industry. They are a self-driven and socially conscious individual who can see the possibility of what a cinema can be beyond a movie screen.
Moonplay Cinema is a fiscally-sponsored project of Springboard for the Arts. It is a project organized and led by Jes Reyes, an interdisciplinary artist practicing mixed media art, fiber, and video. They founded the Altered Esthetics Film Festival (2014-2017), a program for video art and experimental film. They launched Moonplay Cinema in 2019, after years of dreaming and planning, to support filmmakers and artists marginalized due to their gender identity.

HOURS:
6 months total, various hours set based upon projects, remote with occasional in-person event-based work, $20/hr - This is a 1099 Contract Employment Opportunity. Expected 60-75 hour commitment. After the project period ends, the position of Coordinator may continue. The role has the potential to grow, pending project development and awarded grant funds.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Partnering with the Director on administration, artist coordination, and marketing. Including event planning, social media, podcast support, website updates, facilitating groups, project development, and other tasks as planned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A resident of the Twin Cities area
A socially conscious individual with an inclusive mindset
At least 1 year of proven administrative experience
During impacted times, available to work evenings and weekends
Strong online and outreach research skills
Hardworking team player with the initiative to work with minimal supervision
Experience with film and arts programming, festivals, and/or other public events
Knowledge of and prior use of Google Drive and associated software (Forms, Docs, Slides, etc.)
Strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills
Grantwriting and fundraising skills or interest in learning non-profit development
PREFERENCES:
Actively practicing artist or filmmaker
Upbeat, collaborative, highly organized, and detail-oriented
Reliable and dependable
Excellent written communication
Ability to navigate websites and do research
Ability to anticipate, set, and meet deadlines
Knowledge of the local arts and independent film industry

Moonplay Cinema supports gender-diverse filmmakers through radical generosity, growth, and visibility. We are an emerging program coordinated by a part-time Director. We currently have an advisory team comprised of 5 local artists, filmmakers, and film programmers. Grant funding has facilitated our progress along with donations from our community of supporters.
The mainstream film community and industry are predominantly cis, male, and white. Moonplay recognizes this and works to diversify the field. We are committed to creating programming and fostering a mindset that advocates and creates spaces that are open, inclusive, and collaborative. We are redefining what a cinema can be, beyond the screen.
